Road race — a plate inside a chainring
The rider is modelled on a rectangular plate; a chainring sits behind it and sticks out on both sides, so the medal is not another disc.
Relief you can feel
Helmet, forearms and the texture of the road surface are modelled at different depths. Run a thumb across it and you can follow the rider without looking.
The teeth are cut through
The gaps between the chainring teeth go all the way through the metal, which is what stops the outline reading as a plain circle.
Slogan on repeat
The band carries the club line in white on black and repeats it, so a legible fragment shows no matter how the medal hangs.
