Tri challenge — three disciplines, one frame
Swim, bike and run share a single relief, left to right, with a white plate underneath for the distance.
One die, four distances
Sprint, standard, middle and long come off the same casting. Only the word on the white plate changes, engraved after the medal is plated.
Figures at three depths
The swimmer sits lowest, the cyclist highest. That staggering is what makes three bodies fit across one face without turning into a crowd.
One stripe of blue
The water under the swimmer is the only enamel on the front. Everything else is metal, which keeps the medal in the antique gold it was designed for.
